Training

Training Packages – Susan has partnered with George Smith, of Summit Consultants to share their knowledge about how to make meetings more effective. George is a CPF and CPF Assessor and together they develop and deliver customized training to their clients. The following are in-house training sessions that are customized to fit client needs.

Training session are 1 to 3 days in length and range from $4,000 to $10,000. Training is customized to fit your organization and training materials are included.

Facilitation Basics (3 day) – a highly interactive training session for up to 16 participants who lead meetings and work sessions. Taught by Certified Professional Facilitators who are also experienced trainers.

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the role of the facilitator
  • Clearly articulate the leader's objectives
  • Design a meeting agenda to achieve the objectives
  • Create customized meeting processes
  • Maximize team collaboration and commitment to results
  • Identify and minimize disruptive behavior
  • Keep meetings focused
  • Understand the International Association of Facilitators' core competencies
Participants will benefit from:
  • Extensive practice and application of skills and concepts
  • Individual feedback and coaching
  • Learning from Certified Professional Facilitators with practical business experience
  • Training that is based on the International Association of Facilitators' "Facilitation Core Competencies"
Facilitation Basics Abbreviated (2 day) – a training session for up to 16 participants who lead meetings and work sessions. An abbreviated Facilitation Basics session designed to introduce the core competencies. Minimal time is spent on practice and application.

Introduction to Facilitation Basics (1 day) – a training session for up to 32 participants who lead meetings and work sessions. An overview of Facilitation Basics session designed to introduce participants to basic facilitation techniques.

Facilitation Basics for Leaders (1 day) – a training session for up to 16 participants who manage and direct the activities of facilitators in their organization.

As a result of this training, leaders will be able to:
  • Know the leader's roles and responsibilities as a team leader and/or participant of facilitated collaborative work teams
  • Produce work collaboratively, recognizing that a meeting is a process
  • Understand the role of the facilitator
  • Know when to use a facilitator to maximize team collaboration and commitment to results
  • Effectively work with a facilitator
  • Understand key facilitative leadership behaviors
  • Understand how to support the collaborative process beyond the meeting
Participants will benefit from:
  • Extensive discussion of skills and concepts
  • Individual feedback and coaching
  • Learning from Certified Professional Facilitators with practical leadership experience
Advanced Facilitation (2 day) – a highly interactive training session for up to 16 participants designed for facilitators who have already mastered the basics of facilitating collaborative work sessions and productive meetings.

During this two-day course participants will develop a detailed facilitation plan, learn advanced facilitation skills, and practice advanced tools and techniques. Specific areas of focus will be customized to the participants' needs and based on their experience, and may include how to facilitate large groups, "facilitating on the fly," facilitating non- collocated meetings, and how to plan for multi-session/complex workshops.

The participants will benefit from extensive discussion of processes, tools and techniques and learn from Certified Professional Facilitators.

As a result of this training, participants will:
  • Understand how to work with the sponsor to clearly articulate the group's scope of authority
  • Design customized approaches for facilitated sessions with a greater understanding of group divergent and convergent thinking
  • Learn how to facilitate group ownership and strategies for overcoming challenging meeting behaviors
  • Learn the importance of agreeing on criteria before making a decision
  • Learn different techniques for measuring meeting effectiveness
The Facilitative Leader (coming soon) Leaders who are proficient with basic facilitation skills are able to channel the expertise of the individuals in their teams whether direct reports or matrix organizations to produce desired results.
